In the mid-1980s, Edward Van Halen was playing his "5150" guitar when something unexpected happened: his high-E string got caught under the upper flange of his pickup's screw coil. The coil was damaged, but what did not defeat it made it...better! For years thereafter, it was his favourite. In the early '90s, he allowed the pickup to be examined. It was discovered that although the pickup's slug coil had a normal resistance, his screw coil did not. It was multiples higher than it had been before it was damaged. The unusually high resistance of the pickup's screw coil left the pickup more mid-forward, and smoothed out the high frequency harshness from which the pickup suffered prior to the accident. The unique sound of that pickup allowed Edward to capture some of the greatest guitar tracks ever, including many tracks on his band's eighth album, and numerous live performances. Now, that pickup's tone now can be yours! Using a combination of A.I., LCR theory, and sound-matching, ToneSlinger has developed a way to replicate - for the first time ever - the sound and feel of the pickup in Ed's 5150 guitar. ToneSlinger's new "A.F.U. Recoil" does what conventional coils cannot. No hidden resistors or capacitors. Just a dedication to first-rate pickup innovation. From head, to hand, to heart...and right into the bridge position of your guitar. PRICE: T.B.D.
